Production Engineer (Finance)



Job Summary The Production Engineer develops and optimizes continuous manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and support high-quality output. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing production equipment—including robots and automation systems—while leading projects related to tooling, process design, and lean manufacturing. The engineer ensures systems and tools are effective, safe, and scalable, working hands-on and cross-functionally to support daily production operations and long-term improvements. Job Responsibilities Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve production equipment and automation tools. Collect and analyze production data to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement. Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans. Identify process bottlenecks and propose technical solutions. Build production tooling and equipment from pre-approved designs. Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and support cost-reduction efforts. Review new product designs for manufacturability and provide cost estimates. Read and interpret drawings, manuals, and technical documentation. Create and maintain specifications, procedures, and work instructions. Perform time studies and establish production standards. Use software such as Microsoft Office, Epicor, and SolidWorks to support process work. Coordinate cross-functional production and technical staff. Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence. Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator. Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices. Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years of relevant production or process engineering experience. Physical: Frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing during equipment maintenance. Regular lifting up to 50 lbs. and use of hand tools and automation machinery. Repetitive motion and fine motor tasks required for tool setup and repairs. Occasional color recognition needed for wiring and component identification. Working Conditions: Work takes place in both office and production floor environments. Conditions may include exposure to heat (solder pots, ovens), vibration, noise, oil, dust, and non-harmful fumes. Eye protection, gloves, face shields, and other PPE may be required depending on the environment the incumbent is working in. Knowledge: -Equipment operation, automation systems, and preventive maintenance methods. -Manufacturing processes, tooling principles, and quality systems. -Statistical process control and lean manufacturing practices. Skills: -Mechanical troubleshooting and root cause analysis. -Technical communication and process documentation. -Time study execution and data analysis. -Proficiency with Epicor, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office. Abilities: -Diagnose production issues and implement effective solutions. -Balance hands-on work with technical planning and project follow-through. -Interpret electrical and mechanical specifications. -Adapt to varying physical and technical demands in a fast-paced environment.
