Director of Infection Prevention (Finance)

SUMMARY

The Director of Infection Prevention plays a critical role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive infection prevention and control (IPC) program. This leader serves as the organizational expert on infection prevention strategy, analytics, education, and external collaboration. By leveraging clinical data, facilitating system-wide education, and staying engaged with industry partners, the Director ensures the adoption of best practices that promote patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the dialysis enterprise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

Program Leadership & Management

  • Design, lead, and evaluate a comprehensive infection prevention and control program that meets regulatory standards and supports organizational safety goals.
  • Enhance and oversee the Hepatitis B Prevention Program, including the design of proactive mitigation strategies and response protocols.
  • Partner with IT to develop intuitive, accessible reporting systems that streamline infection data collection, monitoring, and trend analysis.

Infection Surveillance, Analysis & Response
  • Direct the organization's infection surveillance activities, interpreting data to detect patterns, benchmark performance, and guide interventions.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to infection exposures such as TB and Hepatitis B, ensuring timely escalation and expert consultation.
  • Provide targeted support to clinics following internal or external survey findings, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

Education & Capacity Building
  • Serve as the principal educator for infection prevention practices, developing scalable training content in partnership with clinical education teams.
  • Deliver competency-based education tailored to diverse clinical audiences to drive adherence to infection prevention standards.
  • Assess training impact through data collection and staff feedback, continuously refining educational delivery based on outcome trends.

Industry Collaboration & Professional Engagement
  • Represent the organization in professional forums and collaborative industry networks focused on infection prevention.
  • Integrate emerging best practices and evidence-based standards into internal programs through ongoing engagement with regulatory bodies and associations.
  • Lead knowledge exchange efforts to promote innovation, benchmarking, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.

Data Analytics & Performance Improvement
  • Leverage internal dashboards and reporting tools to monitor infection control performance, track trends, and develop performance improvement strategies.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to translate data into actionable insights that inform decision-making and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with clinics to address elevated infection rates or anomalies, using data to design targeted interventions.

Collaboration & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to infection control.
  • Work closely with regulatory, quality, and operational leaders to align protocols with applicable standards.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce false-positive Hepatitis B test rates and implement durable solutions.
  • Upholds management goals of corporation by leading staff in team concepts and promoting a team effort.
  • Maintains effective personnel management and employee relations, including evaluating the performance of all personnel; approving and submitting all hours worked and counseling and disciplining employees.
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and supervises personnel.
  • Actively promotes GUEST customer service standards; develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Effectively communicates expectations; accepts accountability and holds others accountable for performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required for the job.
