Plant Accountant (Finance)



Overview

Location: Buffalo, IA

Pay is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process

The primary objectives of the Plant Accountant is to support and complete the monthly close, perform all accounting functions, maintain skills necessary to provide complete backup support for the Plant Controller on the full Hannibal Plant activity.

This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

Organization Structure:

The Plant Accountant reports to the Davenport Plant Controller. The position has no direct reports.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Daily and monthly accounting functions for Davenport and Green America Recycling Davenport, including revenue recognition, inventory, and expense.
  • Supporting the Plant Controller on Davenport Plant accounting activities including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manages the internal controls required for best practices according to policies.
  • Calculations for electricity cost for monthly accruals and verification of the invoice.
  • GAR reporting and variance analysis.
  • Backup responsibilities for Accounts Payable function.
  • Backup responsibilities for cash flow projections with the Controller.
  • Sales and Use Tax returns and compliance.
  • Provide inputs into budgeting and planning parameters.
  • Lead monthly inventory cycle counts
  • Manages the fixed assets tracking responsibilities including the FAS listings and depreciation. Reviews cost tracking on Capex projects with managers for proper accounting of CIP. Annual reviews of the records for internal control procedures.
  • Other accounting and reporting duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 3-5 years previous experience in similar capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, processes, and control systems.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Ability to cross train and learn every aspect of accounting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills with cross functional groups.
  • Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.)
  • Organizational skills and the initiative to take charge of situations or projects.
  • Flexibility in job duties and willingness to help others.
  • Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening which includes physical, background check, and ten (10) panel drug screen.
