Desktop Support Technician (Finance)



The Desktop Support Technician is a staff position within the IT support group accountable for ensuring continuity of computer system services for computer users by providing the technical expertise, assistance and project coordination necessary to install computer software products, modify/repair hardware and resolve technical problems. This position will be expected to collaborate onsite at MHK's Tampa office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.  

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure continuity of the computer system for all system users.
  • Research software products and applicability to organizational environment.
  • Install and update selected software and hardware products. 
  • Repair hardware as necessary and work closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in MIS technology.
  • Be "on-call" for all periods as assigned by manager.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to users both onsite and remote whenever needed.
  • Recommend changes in software and hardware to improve computer capabilities.
  • Assist in implementing practices that will more effectively utilize MIS resources.
  • Assist with facility and desktop setup onsite in the Tampa office.
  • Participate in audits and ensure compliance with IT operational standards
  • Facilities coordination involving light physical labor (setup, stacking, relocating equipment, supplies etc.) 

Education

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, electrical engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working on hardware.
  • 2 or more years of experience in desktop support.
  • Relevant software certifications.
  • Experience and Windows and Linux OS.
  • Experienced administering JIRA or similar ticket system
  • Experience with Jamf Pro, SCCM, or similar endpoint management tools
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and AV systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to other technical staff members. 
  • Ability to interface well with Professional Service staff and other non-technical members of the organization. 
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies. 
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience and ability to work in a constantly changing, fast paced, deadline driven environment.
