Additive Manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, is a process of creating three-dimensional objects by building them layer by layer from a digital design. Unlike traditional manufacturing methods, which often involve cutting or subtracting material, additive manufacturing adds material-such as plastics, metals, or composites-precisely where needed. This innovative technique enables the production of complex geometries, reduces material waste, and allows for customization and rapid prototyping and production, making it a versatile solution. We are looking for an Engineer Tech I to join our team in Ave Maria, FL. to provide additive manufacturing technical manufacturing support for new product development / trials, online training of new personnel in additive manufacturing processes. Along with fosters an environment continuous improvement to develop more robust procedures and improvements within existing processes. First Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains additive manufacturing machines in order to maximize part quality, machine up-time and throughput
  • Produce 3D printed parts, operate 3D printers, and communicate with any key stakeholders
  • Completes dimensional and visual inspections as necessary to ensure that products are made to the drawing dimensions and the part is visually aesthetic and suitable for use
  • Uses principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve technical problems
  • Maintains quality and a high level of safety standards
  • Uses CAD to manipulate models within 3D printing software
  • Loads/unloads raw materials, and other machinery and equipment consumables
  • Initiates, monitors, and completes builds on various additive machines
  • Keeps track of inventory of consumables, supplies, raw materials and replenishes them as needed
  • Performs post-processing by removing support materials from additively manufactured parts using a variety of hand tools to have printed parts meet specifications
  • Diagnoses and/or repairs machinery and equipment to minimize down-time and maximize part quality
  • Maintains a high level of teamwork with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Marketing, Packaging, and Prototype department personnel to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Consults with Marketing and Design Engineers and other personnel regarding product information, product design and function, and material requirements for efficient manufacturing of parts
  • Provides feedback and input on changes or ideas for improvement of tolerances, fits, and function
  • Meets and attempts to exceed delivery expectations through frequent and clear communication
  • Maintains a high level of cleanliness and organization in order to efficiently manage multiple work orders
  • Support orientation and training of new team members on areas of the job function they may need to gain proficiency
  • Provide guidance on BOMs, cycle times, and necessary information to build and implement a PV and WO creation
  • Identify opportunities to improve process robustness to reduce scrap and increase efficiency

Education/Experience:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Experience with engineering specification documents and conventions preferred

Skills:

  • Effectively communicate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing concerning required tasks and projects
  • Able to learn new details on products, processes, engineering concepts, and systems as they relate to engineering change orders, manufacturing processes, and product design
  • Able to learn and understand best practices for processes, products, and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of additive manufacturing and post-processing equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Office required

Knowledge:

  • Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
