Maintenance Tech III (Finance)



Department: FMC - Building Maintenance Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
Description:

The Maintenance Tech III performs general maintenance of the UHCL facilities. Assists other trades with plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and construction. Is expected to develop skills and attend training as outlined by the department to become proficient in several trades. Subject to the appointment on the campus hurricane ride-out crew.

Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

Schedule: Tuesday - Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm, with 30 minute lunch

Duties:
  • General building maintenance.
  • Works with other trades to learn new skills that may include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, welding, small motor repair and construction.
  • Performs moves and coordinates surplus.
  • Assists in new construction projects.
  • Attends formal training.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or GED and vocational or trade school training.
  2. Minimum of three years of general building maintenance experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Vocational or Trade School Certification
  • Experience with small electric motors, plumbing, electrical or pumps, and various types of welding and cutting equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance.
  • Skilled in operating hand and power tools.
  • Ability to use and further develop a variety of skills both hands on and in classroom.
  • Knowledge of all safety procedure and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform and understand math for measurements and calculations.
