Accounting Technician (Hybrid, Onsite/Remote, North Carolina) (Administrative)



A minimum of one day a week working in the home office will be required. In addition, AP Technicians will rotate working in the home office on Friday's, for Checkwrite processing. 

The Accounting Technician performs a variety of accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of payable account transactions, records and invoices. The position reports to the Accounts Payable Manager.

The Accounting Technician is responsible for (though not limited to):

  • Reviews payable accounts to assure that information is properly registered and that records contain appropriate authorization for payment;
  • Calculates, classifies, and records numerical data to maintain complete and accurate financial records;
  • Performs a combination of routine calculations, posting, and verification duties;
  • Obtains primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records;
  • Set invoices up for payment;
  • Assures compliance with prompt pay guidelines for provider payments;
  • Put together and process accounts payable checks and electronic payments;
  • Resolve bill discrepancies;
  • Correspond with vendors regarding inquiries;
  • Checks the accuracy of figures and calculations recorded by other workers;
  • Assist with month end and year end close;
  • Duties may also include: listing of accounts payable; maintenance of a general ledger; maintaining updated vendor files and file numbers; monitoring accounts to assure that payments are up to date; and printing and distributing monthly financial reports.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A high school degree plus a minimum of two years' experience in accounts payable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the essential knowledge and abilities to perform the job.

Knowledge and Skills

This position requires the ability to set objectives and prioritize workflow; proficient in written and oral communication sufficient to handle projects and problems, develop strong working relationships with divergent groups; ability to solicit cooperation from persons and departments throughout the organization; ability to make evaluations concerning day to day operations; ability to prepared concise and accurate reports and plans.  Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data related to accounts payable practices. Strong organization skills. 

 Additional Training Preferred:

Previous experience in a behavior healthcare agency preferred.

Salary Range

$16.4889 to $28.3852/Hourly
