Principal Product Manager – PLM

Position Summary

The Product Management team within F5's Digital Organization plays a critical role in shaping how internal functions like sales, marketing, finance, legal, and HR interact with and deliver value from F5's platforms. Our mission is to build a more agile, responsive, and data-driven enterprise—one that can scale business needs and deliver exceptional user experiences.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will define and lead the vision, strategy, and execution of Product Offerings and Lifecycle Management across SaaS, perpetual, and cloud-based solutions. This role is highly cross-functional, requiring deep product expertise, strong stakeholder management, and operational rigor. You will drive New Product Introduction (NPI), End of Sales (EOS) processes, and initiatives that connect product usage, bookings, and revenue data to business decision-making.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across Product, GTM, Finance, Engineering, and Legal, aligning roadmaps and priorities to deliver scalable, user-centric platforms that support F5's evolving business model.

What You'll Do

  • Craft a coherent, results-focused vision and roadmap for a significant area of the product portfolio, leveraging user discovery, data analysis, stakeholder insights, and industry trends.

  • Define and drive strategy for SKU design, product metadata, SDIM (Solution Design & Implementation Management), and lifecycle management.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop clear strategies and innovative solutions that meet core business and customer needs.

  • Drive product strategies that align booking, cash, and usage data with operational systems and business outcomes.

  • Evangelize your roadmap with senior stakeholders—including up to the EVP level—and manage expectations through consistent, transparent communication.

  • Partner cross-functionally to build business cases with quantifiable ROI, defining metrics for adoption, usage, and business impact.

  • Rally portfolio and delivery teams around a focused product vision, ensuring stable priorities and timely tradeoff decisions.

  • Ensure the platform delivers exceptional user experience, scalability, and performance, with a focus on successful adoption and measurable business benefits.

  • Lead NPI and EOS processes across Product and GTM functions, ensuring smooth transitions and system readiness.

  • Work constructively within the broader product team to align priorities across workstreams and promote a unified approach to product delivery.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in SaaS, perpetual, and cloud-based offerings, supporting compliance and strategic planning efforts.

  • Uphold F5's Business Code of Ethics and proactively report any violations of policies or standards.

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, preferably in enterprise software, SaaS, or cloud platforms.

  • Proven ability to lead complex product initiatives that span technical and business domains.

  • Deep expertise in product lifecycle management, including SKU strategy, pricing/packaging, and GTM enablement.

  • Strong understanding of SaaS and perpetual business models, and the ability to support hybrid licensing and deployment approaches.

  • Demonstrated experience in building business cases, defining KPIs, and tracking success metrics tied to adoption and ROI.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience working with executive leadership.

  • Experience driving collaboration across Product, GTM, Engineering, Legal, and Finance functions.

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a data-informed decision-making mindset.

  • High level of comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, and a strong sense of ownership.

  • Familiarity with platforms such as ERP, CRM, CPQ, or usage analytics tools is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a digital transformation or enterprise platform context.

  • Prior work with Agile development teams and product management tools like Aha!, Jira, or Confluence.

  • Certifications such as SAFe, Pragmatic Institute, or similar are a plus.
