Hilton Columbus Downtown is searching for a Sous Chef for our award-winning restaurant, FYR Short North.

This AAA Four Diamond-rated hotel is a beacon of excellence in the heart of Columbus.

With 1,000 elegantly appointed guest rooms, over 75,000 square feet of versatile event space, and six distinct food and beverage outlets, this is a rare opportunity to lead culinary innovation at one of Hilton's flagship urban properties.

In this role, you will work with the Senior Sous Chef and Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations of FYR, our signature restaurant renowned for its live-fire cooking and inventive Midwestern cuisine. Showcasing an open kitchen concept and emphasizing the freshest seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, FYR delivers an engaging and authentic dining experience.

What will I be doing?

As Sous Chef, you would be responsible for assisting with the direction and oversight of all culinary operations in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, a Sous Chef would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in the direction and oversight of culinary operations, to include, but not limited to, preparation and production of hotel meals, food quality and presentation, compliance with all safety and sanitation standards and regulation, team member productivity and performance, implementation of policies and procedures, cost controls and overall profitability
  • Implement menu selections for special events based on current food trends and regional tastes in partnership with the Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage, as needed
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
  • Assist in monitoring and developing team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision, conducting counseling and assisting with evaluations, training, scheduling and assigning work and delivering recognition and reward
