Licensed Practical Nurse - Pediatric Clinic (Healthcare)

Highly organized and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as the clinical lead at our offsite, provider-based Rural Health Clinic (RHC) in Vacherie. This position provides direct nursing support to the Pediatrician and plays a key role in ensuring smooth clinical operations within the pediatric department. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, maintaining clinical readiness, supporting high-quality patient care, and promoting efficiency in collaboration with the healthcare team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to pediatric patient care in a rural community setting.
Job Duties:

Clinical Skills:

Participates in the care of patients under the supervision and in collaboration with other members of the care team.
Measures and records appropriate vital signs based on policy and patient age.
Conducting age-appropriate developmental screenings and patient histories. Identifying abnormal values based on age and developmental level and reports findings to the provider.
Participates in clinic flow, including but not limited to assisting with patient arrival to the clinic, assisting in and performing patient procedures, scheduling new and follow-up appointments, facilitating a smooth patient exit from the clinic.
Prepare patients for examination, treatment, and/or procedures.
Observes patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/ neglect and reports in accordance with policy.
Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately in adherence to policy.
Performs non-complex procedures, such as simple dressing changes.
Provides for comfort needs of patients with consideration of age and special needs.
Handles clinic equipment, including preparation of equipment, testing of equipment for safety, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment according to policy.
Administers vaccines, medications, and other treatments as ordered and according to policy.
Properly collects, prepares, and secures specimens for point of care testing and/or transport when necessary. Performs point of care testing per policy.
Maintains medication inventory and demonstrates proper disposal of expired medications. Stores medications according to policy and ensures medication safety when using multi-dose vials and containers. Maintains refrigerator/ freezer monitoring logs to ensure proper storage environment for all medications and vaccines.

Documentation:

Documents all clinical tasks, testing, and procedures. Documents appropriately in the patient medical record according to established guidelines. Completes proper paperwork including documentation of waived testing quality control procedures.
Maintains privacy of patient personal health information.
Navigates EMR to obtain laboratory and radiology results, medical records, update patient demographics, and schedule follow-up appointments.
Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
