Job Title: Interim Director of Nursing

Salary: $80k-$110k

Position Overview:

As the Interim Director of Nursing, you will oversee the entire nursing department, ensuring a high standard of care for all residents while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for our clinical team. This key leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and lead the nursing staff, develop impactful policies, and directly contribute to the well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Take charge of the overall management of the nursing department, including staffing levels, recruitment, hiring, and training of nursing personnel.
  • Policy Development: Design, implement, and ensure compliance with nursing policies and procedures to guarantee best-in-class care.
  • Resident Care & Safety: Ensure the safety, dignity, and respect of all residents while providing oversight to clinical operations.
  • In-Service Training & Development: Lead and conduct in-services for nursing staff to maintain excellence in clinical practice.
  • Coordination & Collaboration: Serve as the liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members, ensuring seamless communication and outstanding care.
  • Pharmacy Services & Compliance: Oversee pharmacy services and the destruction of expired medications to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Stay current on regulatory changes and lead your team through state surveys and follow-up activities. Handle budgeting and reporting for the nursing department.
  • Quality Improvement & Collaboration: Actively participate in QA, Utilization Review, and patient care conferences to continually improve outcomes.
  • Hands-On Care: Provide direct patient care when necessary, ensuring that every resident receives the attention and care they deserve.
  • Employee Management: Supervise and manage nursing staff, conduct employee appraisals, and handle disciplinary actions and terminations.

Supervisory Requirements:

As the Director of Nursing, you will lead and manage the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and the entire nursing team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure excellence in patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    • Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain continuing education and licensing requirements.
    • A minimum of 7 years of nursing management experience is preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to interpret and implement professional journals, technical procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for reporting, correspondence, and presentations.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle a variety of situations with limited standardization.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PointClickCare (PCC).
Physical & Work Environment:
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds and spend prolonged periods at a computer.
  • The work environment is typically low to moderate in noise, with a need for occasional travel.
