Leave Management Associate (Finance)



Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Job Schedule: Full-Time

About the Role
The Leave Specialist administers paperwork, and processes leave requests in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), while ensuring compliance with local and state laws. The Leave Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the leave process efficiently and ensuring that employees receive the support they need during their time away from work.

  

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Input payroll data to support the accurate and efficient delivery of payroll services as it applies to employees utilizing leaves of absence.
  • Carry out a wide range of HR data processing tasks as directed; advise co-workers and provide guidance on leave processes when needed.
  • Resolve queries from internal or external customers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, referring complex issues to HR Business Partner and/or HR Manager.
  • Extract relevant data from information provided by external customers through leave and accommodation paperwork and input into applicable formats such as communication letters and HRIS.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of applicable laws to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from management for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
  • Prepare moderately complex documents primarily related to leaves. Gather and summarize data for reports.
  • Build effective working partnerships within the organization and contribute to the management of building relationships, delivering high-quality professional services.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Works with full competence to understand and effectively use standard office equipment and standard software packages to support business processes.
  • Works at an intermediate level to determine and analyze trends from data that is collected to assist in compiling reports that will help in decision-making. Typically works with guidance.
  • Works at an intermediate level to plan, organize, prioritize, and oversee job responsibilities to efficiently meet objectives.
  • Must be able to express ideas, request actions, formulate plans, & policies by means of clear and effective verbal communications.
  • Works at an intermediate level to acquire, organize, protect, and process data in order to fulfill business objectives.
  • High school degree, or equivalent, is required with 1-2 years of customer service experience preferred with general Human Resources experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required. Microsoft Office experience preferred.
