Senior Investment Business Analyst (Finance)



JOB SUMMARY

Senior Investment Business Analysts are responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. This position is responsible for business analysis, requirements gathering, solution testing, functional management, and support of the investment systems infrastructure. The Senior Investment Business Analyst leads and participates in projects and processes that enhance and modify current and future investment systems, interfaces, and data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Analyzes investment systems users' current workflows for Business Process Improvements, including identification of functionality gaps, improvement opportunities, requirements gathering, testing, and implementation support 
  • Liaises between business users, technical teams, and software vendors to translate user requirements into clear, detailed functional requirements that align with business goals and requirements
  • Partners with technical teams to understand software options, limitations, costs, and risks. Utilize this knowledge to design, manage, and document functional specifications, use cases, test plans, training aids, and deployment plans in support of development and project initiatives
  • Supports project managers in planning, monitoring, and progress reporting to ensure timely solution delivery
  • Assists with the planning and testing of system implementations and upgrades
  • Identifies and mitigates risks and issues, proactively resolving obstacles to keep projects on track
  • Serves as subject matter expert by researching and resolving complex data, functional, and operational issues within the investment systems. Serves as a data steward to ensure accuracy and completeness of data within those systems.  
  • Creates and modifies reports to assist with investment analysis, reconciliations, and system performance
  • Partners with technical teams to understand software options, limitations, costs, and risks. Utilizes this knowledge to develop effective requirements and test plans.
  • Creates and modifies functionality for expanded investment capabilities, data flows, and user configurations within the order management system (LongView)
  • Communicates effectively with business and technical staff, consultants, and vendors
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation, procedures, and policies
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Information Systems or equivalent; seven years of business analyst experience within Investment Operations or Investment Systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of public and private market investment instruments and software such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, and LongView. Experience with Snowflake and Power BI preferred.
  • Experience creating documentation such as business requirements, visual diagrams of processes, test cases, and implementation plans
  • Strong experience working/interacting with cross-functional teams including both non-technical end users and IT development staff; experience solving technical and business-related challenges
  • Knowledge of relational database applications and data mining capabilities, software development and system implementation, report writing and query tools, and project management software
  • Knowledge of business processing modeling and business analysis methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
  • Strong project management skills with prior experience leading and facilitating projects
  • Demonstrated ability to succinctly communicate complex business and technical information to various stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including customer service, leadership, training, and conflict management skills
  • Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Standard office environment with frequent telephone communication, computer operation, and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy and printer machine.
  • All employees are expected to present themselves in a professional manner in alignment with the financial services industry

HYBRID WORK OPTION

  • Opportunity to work from home up to three days per week. Eligibility dependent upon factors detailed in PERA's Work from Home Policy.
