Legal Assistant - Houston Area (Legal)



Our Firm is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our Houston team. This hybrid role supports three attorneys and involves a combination of traditional legal assistant responsibilities and substantive paralegal tasks. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized multitasker with experience in litigation support, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep cases organized by providing in-office support to attorneys, establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software;
  • Manage the opening and closing of client files;
  • Help develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case and generating status reports, as necessary;
  • Support case preparation by organizing materials for team case review;
  • Responsible for entering billable time entries and making travel arrangements for attorneys;
  • Edit, format, print and revise all letters, memos, reports, forms, labels and other printed material;
  • Answer phone calls, take notes, messages and redirect calls when appropriate;
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities;
  • Experience reviewing/requesting medical records, responding to/drafting discovery, deposition scheduling/summaries, and bates labeling.
  • Support trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and preparing trial binders;
  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job tasks;
  • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned;
  • 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in defense litigation
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with asbestos or toxic tort litigation a plus
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court rules, and filing procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Texas Notary Public a plus

Compensation and Benefits:
