This position requires a strong technical acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative spirit to effectively work across sales, engineering, procurement, and other internal functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Facilitate the communication of technical requirements, compliance standards, and specifications to supply chain and quality teams to support accurate proposal generation.
  • Process Improvement: Ensure timely delivery and high quality of all technical deliverables within the proposal development lifecycle, contributing to an efficient and effective sales process; provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Tool Development: Assist in the development and refinement of proposal templates and technical sales tools to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Performance Contribution: Contribute directly to the achievement of sales targets, measured by captured revenue, timely delivery of technical proposals, and the profitability of secured projects.
  • Collaboration & Values: Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships across the organization, particularly within the marine sales and engineering teams, to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with company objectives. Embody FMD's core values of Integrity, Velocity, and Teamwork in all interactions and responsibilities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical sales support, applications engineering, or systems engineering role, preferably within the power generation, marine, or heavy industrial engine industry.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of diesel engine and generator set systems, marine power solutions, or complex fluid systems preferred.
  • Documentation Skills: Proven ability to interpret technical specifications, RFIs, and RFPs, and to produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation (specifications, scope documents, compliance matrices).
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as ABS rulesets, USCG ACP, and MIL-SPECs is preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is also required.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
