Senior Software Engineering Supervisor (Finance)



As a Senior Software Engineering Supervisor here at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of software engineers to deliver innovative software solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing the development process, ensuring high-quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Mason, Ohio or Atlanta, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our software development processes, ensuring that projects are completed on time and meet the strategic objectives of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Establish professional relationships and communications with customers, project managers, project engineering discipline leads.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards. Supervise and coordinates the activities of the SW engineer team and related administrative issues, to ensure that the projects are delivered effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project priorities and allocate resources effectively.
  • Actively participate in project requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing for the assigned project. Ensures 100% compliance to phase gate reviews and all deliverables are submitted to the customer on time. Participate in monthly project reviews with Project managers / Program managers.
  • Drive culture of customer centricity, change identification, change management, technical risk identification & mitigation, value engineering ideas, techniques & solutions are applied on the assigned projects.
  • Seek efficiencies in the project execution methodology to bring down cost and or increase the value delivered to the customer. Develop and enhance the work processes and procedure as required.
  • Prepare and maintain work schedules, generate technical reports, correspondence, and minutes of meetings to control, document and convey information relating to assigned jobs and projects to leadership and customers. Coordinates with engineering discipline leads & engineers through all phases of the project and ensures deliverables are met and complete.
  • Drives billability of the project group, project cost forecast accuracy and monitors engineering hours & financials to ensure assigned project is completed within agreed engineering cost budget, any EAC changes due to engineering are logged in CORA and have been approved before the EAC variance is shown in the forecast.
  • Ensure common methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and products as agreed by the knowledge communities / Leaders are being effectively applied and provide feedback for future improvement.
  • Performs root cause analysis on issues identified during project life cycle, update and disseminates lessons learned on a regular basis within and across the project teams.
  • Provides technical assistance to project team members during the project life cycle. Pro-actively identifies potential quality and efficiency improvements within assigned work.
  • Responsible for collecting customer feedback on various customer touch points of the project like technical kick-off / customer kick-off meetings, Design review meetings, Trainings, and Commissioning / On-site services.
  • Ensure project teams work in compliance with quality / safety procedures. Responsible for adherence to HSE Policy and Guidelines.
  • Is responsible of the skill gap assessment and technical countability of her/his direct reports. Support and assess her/his team at customer sites (at least one site per month).
  • Performs biannually performance evaluation, conducts 1:1, lead staff meetings, provides coaching to her/his direct report on their IDPs. Able to manage complex discussions, drive PIPs processes, and develop a pipeline for her/his succession path.
  • Improves SW processes and is active participant on 1+ Improvement Initiatives or Pillars (Standardization, Training Academy, Safety, etc).

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.YOU MUST HAVE

  • At least three years experience supervising or leading a technical team
  • At least six years hands-on experience in distribution center or warehouse automation system, including material handling system, inventory management, and warehouse control systems, etc.
  • Deep knowledge in C++, C# and/or Java programming under Windows and/or Linux.
  • Deep knowledge in RDBMS, e.g. MS SQL, Postgres or Oracle.
  • Knowledge in SVN (Subversion) and GitHub source control.
  • Experience with Profibus, Ethernet, EtherCAT is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to site for supervision and customer PR up to 30% of time
