Internal Communication Intern (Creative Design)



Hey Students! Are you creative, detail-oriented, and excited about making an impact through internal communication? Become an Internal Communication Intern at Royal Credit Union! In this role, you'll help craft engaging written content, support multimedia projects, and collaborate across departments to bring internal messaging to life for team members.

All applicants must be located in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Valley Area & include a resume, cover letter, transcript and their anticipated graduation date when applying. If selected for the internship, you must be able to commit to the full 12 months and be enrolled at a university throughout the length of the internship. Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI, throughout the school year and during breaks.

What You'll Do: 

The Internal Communication Intern is responsible for assisting the Internal Communication Strategist with coordinating, creating, and developing video, photo, and graphic assets to effectively support team member communication. The Intern applies a creative mindset in achieving business objectives, with an understanding of the technical aspects of digital photography, videography, animation, and graphics. They also participate in the planning, development, and editing of organization-wide written communication.

Our Commitment To You:

  • Compensation: $17.41 - 19.49 per hour (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

What's Needed For This Position:

  • Enrolled at a University or Technical College throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a degree in Communication, Multimedia Development, or other related field.
  • Experience with videography and video production.
  • Experience with creative and video production software, such as Canva and Filmora Wondershare.
  • Strong ability to handle and maintain multimedia equipment responsibly.
  • Proficiency in multimedia production software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and audience engagement.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to translate communication needs into engaging visual and written content.

What We'd Love To See:

  • Experience with script writing and storyboarding.

Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Write, review, and edit internal communications that are clear, inclusive, and aligned with Royal's culture and style guide.
  • Create multimedia content including photography, videography, audio, and graphics for internal platforms like the Portal and email.
  • Coordinate and organize multimedia project logistics such as scheduling shoots and managing production timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop storyboards, creative concepts, and communication strategies for internal messaging.
  • Edit and manage multimedia assets using tools like Filmora Wondershare and Canva, and maintain Royal's digital asset library.

Work Schedule:

  • Working approximately 15-20 hours/week during the school year and 35-40 hours/week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday based on class schedule.
  • Must be able to work onsite at the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center throughout the school year and during breaks.
  • This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from May 2026 - May 2027.
  • Must be able to commit to the 12 month internship.

Training:

  • Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.
  • Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal's culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
