The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation
Research Fellow | Job Code: 22-048 (Biotech)
Applications are invited for outstanding postdoctoral candidates to contribute to an NIH-funded project in The Mathews Lab investigating the role of cerebellar-forebrain interconnectivity in behavioral flexibility at The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Fellowships will provide a research training experience designed to develop broad-based expertise in neuroscience research and several technological skills (e.g., in vivo electrophysiology and rodent fMRI), as well as to develop the skills required for an independent research career.
The successful applicant will report directly to Dr. Paul Mathews working on a NIMH funded project:
The primary duties will involve designing and executing experiments for projects focused on understanding the neural signals provided by the cerebellum to the forebrain in support of adaptive shifts in behavior.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and performing experiments involving mouse behavior, in vivo electrophysiology, neuroimaging, immunohistochemistry, and data analysis.
- Adhering to standards for safety and hygiene and ethical conduct as defined by the Institute and relevant outside parties.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills are essential, as is the ability to work with complex data and work successfully in a highly collegial team.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in neuroscience, physiology, biomedical sciences, engineering or equivalent.
Other Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and professional competencies:
