Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer, with 5 years of experience, to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team on a NYCDEP construction project in Brooklyn, NY.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As an Assistant Resident Engineer, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities and general building projects to successfully execute and manage construction under the supervision of the Resident Engineer.
Role accountabilities:
As an Assistant Resident Engineer (RE), you will manage the firm's day-to-day construction oversight/Assistant Resident Engineering efforts on multiple job order construction projects at one of DEP's South region wastewater plants.
Assist RE in managing the inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients' requirements and act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors' RFI's and review of shop drawings.
Assist RE in managing office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.
Assist RE and EH&S (Environmental Health and Safety) inspectors in managing overall site safety and permit condition compliance.
Monitor contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness and effectiveness.
Exert influence over contractors to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.
Support the review, preparation and processing of contractor payments.
Lead contractor meetings and prepare meeting agendas and minutes.
Use effective oral and written communication skills to effectively lead progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, local agencies and the community.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $165,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
