  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience technical manufacturing experience.
  • Prior use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods and standards.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 1 year Technical Leadership experience.
  • Investment casting experience
  • Proficiency in modeling programs such as Solid Works and NX CAD
  • Minitab/statistics knowledge and strong Excel capabilities
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is desired

Job Summary

As a Product Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for all dimensional characteristics and tooling pertaining to the investment casting process and our products. This may involve both new development and production castings. In this role you will be teamed up with a Process Engineer Team Leader who will be responsible for the metallurgical aspects of the process. The prime responsibility for this position is to engineer the highest yield and lowest overall cost product while meeting or exceeding all customer defined quality requirements. In this position you will work in a team environment with other engineers as well as hands on with the manufacturing team so strong communication skills are required. You will have a team of Product Engineers reporting to you that you will lead, guide and mentor to achieve the above stated goals.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers to align BP to manufacturing capability for submittal free parts
  • Drive continuous improvement to optimize process and cost
  • Follow Howmet's Safety Regulations
  • Oversee manufacturing tooling design, construction, and implementation
  • Optimize dimensional and core related yields at minimum manufacturing cost
  • Create manufacturing routing and processing instructions
  • Assist in compilation of quotation packages for new product, select equipment purchases, etc.
  • Develop and debug processes for production and developmental castings
  • Actively pursue the continuous improvement of existing processes
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Supply technical support to customers and vendors. Interact with them regarding technical concerns or general product status.
  • Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and some overtime
  • Must manage your team to deliver the above stated goals so excellent communication and leadership skills are required
  • Participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams and help manage follow-up actions to achieve team objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets technical procedures, including complex blueprints and specifications. Effectively write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and workforce teams.
  • Ability to apply mathematical (statistical) operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills are required. The ability to effectively work with all levels of the organization to achieve your goals are required.
  • This employee must be self-motivated to drive improvement in their assigned portfolio of parts while also driving the Product Engineering team to achieve the same on the balance of the work center product.
  • Leadership skill is required as you will be responsible for the recruitment, development, and performance of your engineering team (consisting of 4-8 Product Engineers)
