Fleet Equipment Manager (Project Management)

The Fleet Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of rental fleet assets, including acquisition, deployment, utilization, and disposal. This role ensures that the rental fleet is optimized for availability, reliability, and profitability while aligning with operational goals and safety standards.

Pay Range:  $77,496.28 - $106,200.65 Annually 
Pay range is dependent upon education & experience.

Fleet Planning & Acquisition

  • Collaborate with Regional Operations and Rentals Sales Managers to forecast fleet needs based on market demand and utilization trends.
  • Manage the procurement process for new and used equipment, including Rental Purchase Options (RPO) returns and unplanned additions.
  • Maintain accurate records of fleet additions, transfers, and disposals.
  • Maintain and enhance vendor relationships.
  • Participate and lead discussions in monthly inventory meetings.

Fleet Operations & Optimization

  • Monitor fleet utilization and recommend redeployment, repositioning, or disposal strategies to maximize ROI.
  • Develop strategies to optimize rental rates based on market trends and asset utilization to maximize financial returns.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze fleet performance reports, including utilization, cost per hour, and lifecycle metrics.
  • Support budgeting and capital planning processes with data-driven insights.
  • Prepare and analyze fleet reports as required by accounting and VP of Rental.
  • Prepare and provide weekly and monthly updates on fleet size and key updates to VP of Rental.
  • Ensure compliance metrics are met through inventory process.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise Rental Fleet Analyst and Sales and Rental Support Specialist, providing guidance, coaching, performance reviews and performance management.
  • Serve as a liaison between Rental Operations, Sales, Service, and Transportation teams.
  • Communicate new fleet, updated rental rates, and any relevant information important to supporting frontline teams.
  • Provide guidance to Rental Coordinators and Branch Managers on fleet-related matters.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in fleet or equipment management, preferably in the rental or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment specifications, applications, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in fleet management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Physical Demands & Competencies:

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 32 pounds.

Travel Requirements:

  • 1- 25%
