Intellectual Property Counsel (Biotech)

The Associate Director, Intellectual Property Counsel role includes (i) managing, building, and protecting intellectual property (“IP”) portfolios including managing the drafting, filing, and prosecution of global patent portfolios; (ii) supporting Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to provide business-relevant legal advice to business leadership teams on IP strategy, transactions and patent filings globally; (iii) supporting Senior Intellectual Property Counsel in drafting and negotiating IP licenses and other IP-related contractual provisions; (iv) providing timely intellectual property landscape and freedom-to-operate assessments to relevant businesses; and (v) supporting Senior Intellectual Property Counsel in managing intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisition, and other transactions including performing due diligence assessments. The Associate Director, Intellectual Property Counsel will be required to work independently and in team environments to provide sound business-oriented counselling on all IP matters.

Experienced patent attorney having minimum 3 years of patent drafting, filing, and prosecution experience required, in a law firm or in-house with biotech experience.
· Substantial patent searching experience with direct experience drafting non-infringement and invalidity opinions.
· Registered USPTO Patent Attorney; Juris Doctor Required.
· Proactive, problem-solving, independent and autonomous, self-motivating personality.
· Excellent communication skills required.
· Proficient in written and oral communication in English.
· Excellent in prioritizing work, coordinating diverse and complex activities, capable of multitasking and functioning well under pressure.
· Proven ability to work well with diverse personalities in a team and cross-functionally.
