Team Leader Reliability Engineering (Engineering)



We are seeking a full-time Team Leader, Reliability Engineer for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area.  In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the reliability engineering team to improve product quality and reliability throughout the product life cycle.


Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Partner with Design and Mechanical Engineering to ensure effective planning and analysis for needed test capabilities and systems as well as reliability objectives and projected performance for products, as needed
  • Team with Engineering and Reliability Operations to ensure appropriate test systems, methods and processes
  • Partner with Quality teams to increase understanding and establish reproducibility of fielded issues with a target of resolving issues and preventing future one
  • Align test methods and systems and ensure repeatability of results across Garmin sites
  • Provide leadership to the reliability team and ensure appropriate tools and processes are in place
  • Lead the evaluation, design and fabrication of test fixtures and systems
  • Provide strategic direction for the planning, development, and execution of reliability programs, techniques, methods and process improvements
  • Ensure proper tools, processes, and documentation for reliability including scope, verification and validation expectations, and effective resource allocation
  • Set a positive tone for the team environment, maintain healthy team relationships, and develop the culture of the Quality organization in alignment with Garmin's leadership
  • Directly supervise various levels of reliability team members by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized coaching, training and mentoring
  • Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related engineering field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant Reliability work experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated experience in reliability, operations, process engineering, industrial engineering, electronics manufacturing or a related field
  • Previous test experience in an environmental test lab, reliability, electronics, engineering, manufacturing, and/or operations related environment
  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work across functional and organizational departments
  • Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment 

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in reliability, operations, process engineering, industrial engineering, electronics manufacturing or a related field with the ability to manage technical human resources
  • Proficient knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100, IATF16949
  • Previous Reliability Engineering or Technician experience
