Parent & Family Engagement Coordinator (Finance)



New Student and Family Engagement is comprised of three offices, the Offices of Orientation, New Student Connections and Parent and Family Engagement, and is a part of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students staff within Student Success. These units strive to advance the mission of the university by providing a seamless transition for all incoming students and families to ensure their successful entrance, navigation, and participation in a full college experience. The departments cultivate community, foster a sense of belonging, and provide individualized support aimed at assisting in the successful transition of new students and their families. Understanding the developmental needs and readiness of students and families, the departments provide support, programs, and communication to enhance the student and family experience. The units assist students and families with navigating campus resources and policies, communicating timely campus resources and deadlines, and helping to mitigate barriers that prevent student success. The staff under these units seek to introduce new students and families to people and resources in the university setting. They will provide the next steps in the enrollment process regarding academic overviews and program content, course registration and establishing an identity within the academic program. They will engage students in peer-to-peer teaching and learning while also providing a transformational experience for student leaders employed within the departments. All team members seek to unite new students under the privilege and responsibility of being USF Bulls.

The Coordinator for Parent & Family Engagement supports the unit's efforts to provide an integrated transition experience for families, and their student(s). The position works to support the unit planning, implementation, and assessment of events and communication-related services to provide families with resources to support their students' growth and success. This individual promotes the unit as the main campus resource for families, offers experiences that connect families to the campus community, communicates campus resources and deadlines, and addresses family questions and concerns. The role is seen as a progression of professional growth throughout the time served in the role. The team will determine responsibilities congruent to strength and needs within the office at the time. Evaluation and adjustment of responsibilities will take place on an annual basis.Minimum Qualifications:

• This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of related experience.
Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices in first year/family experiences and transition programs; proven ability to translate student development, leadership theory, and research into practice; prior success with planning and implementing programs linked to student learning outcomes; and strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Talent to interpret individual needs and develop effective intervention strategies and referral protocols; knowledge of academic programs, university policies/procedures, and student support services; experience successfully navigating complex environments and working collaboratively with units across campus.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, families, faculty, and staff.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks; experience managing others, adhering to strict timelines, and proposing and implementing effective solutions to roadblocks and problems; proven ability to make confident decisions in a change-oriented, fast-paced environment.

  • Support families through individualized coaching conversations, interpretation of university policies and procedures, and identifying and navigating campus resources.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of campus-wide experiences that connect family members to the campus community, including but not limited to, Family Weekend, Family Move-in Mixers, Family of the Year, and Bulls Family Fest. Assist with program development, serve as liaison to event sponsors, and coordinate volunteer support.
  • Assist unit through ongoing support for programs led by other staff members.

Outreach and Communication:
  • Serve as the lead administrator for the University's parent and family engagement platform by importing users, managing communities, maintaining event registration/ecommerce, and reporting system metrics.
  • Generate, approve and publish content (posts, events, announcements, campaigns, advertisements, surveys, etc.) on a regular basis to provide consistent and effective communication to families.
  • Coordinate and facilitate presentations, workshops, university partner trainings, and webinars that support USF's new student and family experience by utilizing national best practices.
  • Assist unit with strategic planning of special projects, communication plans, and marketing campaigns for families and students. Execute marketing plans and campaign strategies.
  • Interpret student and family curriculum to prepare tools and resources for distribution to families and students.
  • Update website, monitor profiles on social media, and maintain email lists.

Organizational Integrity and University Relations:
  • Assist unit with executing and meeting goals outlined in strategic plan, projecting budgetary needs, and monitoring expenditures.
  • Seek opportunities to generate new funds, including sponsorships, product donations, and individual gifts.
  • Collect and analyze data to produce reports that outline unit's contribution to institutional priorities and display program effectiveness and impact.
  • Assist unit with student leader recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation process.
  • Represent the unit through service on university committees, as a representative at designated meetings, and in professional organizations/associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
