Summary:

The Sr. Corp Process Engineer provides senior-level technical support to corporate and cement plant personnel. The role of a Sr. Corp Process Engineer involves overseeing and optimizing the entire cement manufacturing process across multiple plant locations within a specific region. This position requires a strong technical background in engineering, a deep understanding of cement production, and the ability to lead process improvement initiatives and provide technical guidance to plant teams.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: Driving and supporting plant safety programs by identifying and reducing hazards, monitoring safety conditions, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Promotes and follows all aspects of safety guidelines and participates in meetings as required. Supports Environmental Department in preparing answers to environmental inquiries.
  • Process Optimization: Analyzing and improving cement production processes (from raw material handling to finish milling) to enhance fuel efficiency, electrical efficiency, production rates, and overall quality. This includes identifying and removing bottlenecks and implementing changes for optimal operating conditions.
  • Technical Support and Training: Providing technical support to corporate office employees, regional employees and plant teams, including training operators on equipment usage and best practices to ensure peak efficiency of mills and pyro lines.
  • Process Control Systems: Performing programming, maintenance, and documentation of programmable control systems to improve and optimize computerized process systems within the plants.
  • Performance Monitoring and Audits: Conducting performance testing and measurements on production equipment, maintaining equipment performance records, and participating in quality and safety audits.
  • Supports the operational Task Forces and Ash Grove / CRH initiatives, participates in meetings as needed, and facilitates action plans.
  • Collaborates and coordinates activities with outside consultants involved in fuel test burns, process evaluations, and other aspects of the production process.
  • Participates in preparing, reviewing, and publishing the Annual Progress and Performance Report and other technical reports.
  • Maintains communication by ensuring proper individuals are apprised of deficiencies and makes recommendations in order that appropriate action can be taken.
  • Continuous Improvement: Optimizing process areas through testing, data gathering, sampling, and utilizing expertise to provide innovative solutions for continual improvement in all aspects of the production process.
  • Capital Projects: Identifying improvement opportunities, organizing research teams, writing Capital expenditure requests, and coordinating project implementation.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum 4 Year/ Bachelor's Degree in engineering, chemistry, mechanical, chemical engineering, or closely related field of concentration.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in plant operations, support, or a similar or related position.

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. in English required.
  • Understanding of basic concepts of mass balance and heat balance. Knowledge of pyro processing, communition, control systems, and computer operations.
  • General working knowledge of environmental laws and regulations required, as well as safety policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of cement production processes or related industrial processes, including the burning of waste-derived fuel and the associated regulations.
  • Uses independent judgment in performing daily responsibilities. Exposed to confidential information requiring appropriate discretion. Works from general supervision with specified standard practices and policies. Refers to supervisor only when in doubt as to the proper procedure for a specified action.
  • Demonstrates pyro processing expertise in performing regular responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Knowledge of pyro-processing, thermodynamics, heat transfer, air flow and related principles.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems and instrumentation techniques and guidelines.
  • Domestic travel up to 75%
