Medical Technologist II - Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (Finance)

Provides advanced technical skills in performing and analyzing various clinical laboratory tests and procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position main roll will be in the NGS lab.

Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Performs requested tests on patients enabling physicians to clinically evaluate patients.
2. Performs routine and special laboratory assays of patient specimens, exercising independent judgment when evaluating the validity of test results.
3. Recommends and implements new and revised testing procedures to provide accurate and informative test results.
4. Performs quality control checks on all tests and equipment to guarantee accurate test results.
5. Maintains inventory of all necessary supplies and reagents.
6. Reviews products, reagents, and new market kits. Tests procedures in journals for accuracy and reproducibility. Develops new tests, improves old test procedures, plots data, and logs test results in the area of research.
7. General duties such as maintaining lab cleanliness, maintaining inventory, washing lab ware.
8. Maintains competency and participating in proficiency testing as appropriate.
9. Responds to emergency situations.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Biology or Chemistry or graduation from an approved school of medical technology.
Minimum Experience:
One year of experience as a Medical Technologist. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
