Join Our Team as a Heavy Equipment Road Operator
JW Bamford, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Road Operator to join our team in constructing, maintaining, and repairing roads and infrastructure. You'll operate bulldozers, graders, excavators, and similar equipment in outdoor environments and varied terrain. Mechanical troubleshooting skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
· Operate heavy machinery safely for road construction and maintenance.
· Grade, excavate, patch roads, and install culverts and guardrails.
· Perform equipment inspections, minor repairs, and maintenance.
· Monitor worksite safety and follow supervisor's instructions.
· Operate chainsaws and assist with general site tasks as needed.
· Travel and overtime work required.

What We're Looking For
· 2-5 years of road construction experience.
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record (5 years required).
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
· Mechanical knowledge and forestry experience preferred.
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Forestry experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to operate one or more of the following:
• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and graders for logging and road construction.
• Or Forestry equipment such as skidders, feller bunchers, log loaders, harvesters, delimbers, masticators, tracked skidders, dozers, excavators, and chippers.

Experience and Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Military-experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

Additional Requirements:
• Valid driver's license (Commercial Driver's License is a plus).
• Clean driving record (5 years required).
• Ability to provide a Motor Vehicle Record upon job offer.
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
Work Environment

A mix of indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and shop materials.
Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Work environment

All work is performed outside in all types of various weather (i.e. heat, cold, wind, sun and inclement weather, etc.)
Exposure to all types of terrain.
Exposure to all elements of nature on a regular basis.
Exposure to loud noise.
Exposure to fumes, odors, gases, dusts, etc.

Physical demands: The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Able to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively.
Must have good visual and auditory physical capabilities in order to manage sight and sounds in a hazardous construction environment.
Able to push, pull, climb, sit, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the job.
Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable.
Ability to work around loud noises.
Coordination between hands, eyes, feet to guide equipment and objects is required.
Must be able to mount and dismount safely off vehicles and equipment.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Must be able to work overtime as requested.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel required

Position travels outside the local area but usually within Northern California

Required education and experience

2-5 years' experience running a mechanical feller buncher.

Preferred education and experience

High School education or equivalent (Preferred)
A job for which military experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
Forestry: 1 year (Preferred)
Heavy equipment operator: 1 year (Preferred)
Mechanical Knowledge: 2 years (Preferred)

Additional eligibility requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license.
