Hydrotester B (Government)



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Associate must perform all safety checks at the start of shift on all cranes and tools and document this as necessary.  Continue to perform safety checks throughout the shift.   

  • Hydrostatically tests tanks by plugging openings and filling each tank with water or air pressure.
  • Properly, and safely operates hydro test, and pneumatic testing equipment.
  • Visually inspects tank's fitting and brackets for proper welds. Records required tank information on hydro data sheet using the weld inspection report. 
  • Chips slag and welding from around fittings and brackets when tank is being filled. Notifies foreman or lead when materials are at the re-ordering point. 
  • Maintain testing equipment, and monitor the condition of testing equipment, to ensure it is in safe operating condition on a daily basis. 
  • Maintain all appropriate paperwork relating to testing practice. 
  • Assures that the pressure is removed before any plugs or the pressure coupling is removed from a vessel. Failure to do so can result in serious injury. 
  • Observes gauge for loss of pressure indicative of leaks, and examines object for escaping air to detect leaks. 
  • Marks object at source of leaks for subsequent repair.
  • Must be attentive to detail in all job tasks, quality and workmanship in each product manufactured. 
  • Operation of cranes, hoists, and forklifts as needed.  Also successfully complete any training, safety program relating to the operation of the equipment. 
  • Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and finishing specifications as they relate to finishing products. 
  • Preforms housekeeping and other related duties that are assigned.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Training on all pneumatic and hydro testing equipment.
  • Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge. 
  • Pneumatic tools, as provided by the company. 
  • Hand tools required for completion of job tasks.
  • Must have a basic understanding of computers, reading, writing and simple math skills.

  • Must have a basic understanding of computers.
  • Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
  • Must be able to read blue prints.
  • High school diploma or GED with one year of trades training and at least one year of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of material, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. 
  • Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness. 
  • Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment.
