Senior Aircraft Certification Engineer - ODA Administration (Finance)



Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Aircraft Certification Engineer - ODA (Organization Designation Authorization) Administration. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the ODA Lead Administrator in ensuring the Garmin ODA is working per FAA requirements and company expectations.

Essential Functions

  • Support the ODA Lead Administrator and other ODA Unit Administrators in the execution of ODA functions
  • Act on behalf of the Lead ODA Administrator or other ODA Unit Administrators when required
  • Ensure the Garmin ODA complies with all FAA requirements
  • Development and maintenance of ODA Unit Procedures and associated company standards
  • Develop and present ODA required training
  • Support UM development, appointment and evaluation processes
  • Provide guidance to unit members and company
  • Facilitate all required Internal and FAA audits of the FAA
  • Ensure timely reporting of all Self-Disclosures and COS related reports to FAA
  • Develop Root Cause and Corrective Actions for findings from audits, self-disclosures and other reports. Ensure timely and effective implementations of corrective actions.
  • Review proposed FAA regulations, policy and guidance to determine impact to Garmin and the Garmin ODA.
  • Support ODA and certification related industry and FAA initiatives and committees as assigned
  • Support other aircraft certification tasks and STC certification project work as assigned. As part of the development required for this position, the individual will be required to perform engineering and/or inspection related tasks in support of Garmin STC

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Previous experience working in avionics design, installation and FAA certification
  • Must be detail-oriented and work proactively and effectively with some supervision support
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FAA regulations applicable to avionics and flight controls certification efforts
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the FAA STC process
  • Demonstrated understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and their installation
  • Demonstrated clear understanding of the FAA system safety process
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas: Electrical Systems, Structures, Mechanical Systems, System Safety, HIRF/Lightning, and/or Aircraft Certification
Desired Qualifications
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • The ideal candidate holds or previously held FAA delegated authority (Unit Member, DER, DAR, DMIR etc.), performed in ODA Administrator role or have been an FAA technical specialist / OMT member.
