Job Summary

The HR Generalist will provide professional human resources services to employees and managers to ensure consistent application of policies and effective management of the organization's human resources within its business objectives.

Under general guidance of the HR Manager, you will provide administration of human resources policies and programs focusing on recruitment, affirmative action, compensation, training and employee relations. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

  • This is an onsite role based in Flint, MI

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer, assist, and field employee questions as they relate to benefits, payroll, wellness, etc.
  • Maintain time and attendance records for payroll processing
  • Ensure that HR programs and systems are compliant with federal, state, and local laws
  • Assist with Workers Compensation, Short Term Disability (FMLA), and other HR programs as needed
  • Assists in all aspects of recruitment where necessary, including sourcing, new hire documents and scheduling pre-employment screenings and orientation times/dates
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Maintain employee personnel records
  • Provide employee relations and conflict resolution services to staff and management to provide consistent treatment and minimize litigation potential
  • Assist with organizational development and human resources (i.e., diversity, sexual harassment, etc.) training of staff and management
  • Recommend, implement, and monitor appropriate regional human resources policies and practices to ensure compliance, increase employee satisfaction and reduce turnover
  • Use HRIS software to obtain and analyze human resources data and provide appropriate reports
  • Build and maintain relationships that foster trust, commitment, and teamwork
  • Interact with staff and all other company employees in a prompt, efficient, and professional manner to facilitate issue resolution
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform HR responsibilities
  • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality on matters that require discretion
  • Assist HR Manager in administration of annual performance review program
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or equivalent in related work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources Management (experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred)
  • Knowledge of federal and local employment laws as well as ability to research laws for other states
  • Ability to work well individually, as well as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Team player with a strong and positive attitude
  • Advanced PC skills with proficiency in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Communication, as always, is key
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel upon occasion
