Linux Systems Administrator (Information Technology)

Job Purpose

The Linux Systems Admin will be part of a dedicated team of diverse professionals creating and supporting solutions for our SageNet's customers. Systems Administrators manage the functionality, compliance and efficiency of computer systems running on RHEL, Roky and CentOS Linux operating systems while being responsive to alerts, customer reported issues, escalated problems, and resolving significant matters exercising independent judgment and within established support practices. The System Administrator is responsible for ensuring that the operational environment is compliant with current operating standards and implementing automation and monitoring tools as appropriate to enhance operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support server and system infrastructure for a mid-sized network services company
  • Manage RHEL, Rocky and CentOS Linux servers to provide maximum uptime and availability
  • Design, Implement and manage LDAP (Active Directory) integration with systems and rights assignment for users
  • Implement and oversee system monitoring and automation tools designed to monitor and report on infrastructure system performance including servers, shared storage, virtual host infrastructure and corporate LAN equipment
  • Support users and systems in a way that maintains a high level of customer service
  • Provide local general IT support and desktop support to local users when remote access as required
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support
  • Provide desktop and phone support as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years relevant experience
  • Recent experience with Linux (Rocky, Red Hat preferred) and Hyper V or VMWare
  • Experience with SAN environment(s) configuration, interface and management
  • Experience working with a team managing separate production, test and development environments.
  • Ability to develop simple to moderately complex scripts in one or more of the following languages: Bash, Python, Ruby
  • Experience with:
    • SAP
    • Windows Server administration
    • SQL Server
    • Cisco UCS and/or HPE
    • Zabbix and/or Solarwinds
  • Experience with configuration management/automation tools like Spacewalk/Satellite OS automation, Ansible, Chef or Puppet
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Reliable transportation

Working Conditions

  • Work productively in a corporate office space as well as remotely as required to support internal customers
  • Business casual work environment
  • On-call rotation and continuous support of internal SageNet
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

  • Sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Use of hands and fingers extensively
  • Work on a computer 5 – 10 hours a day
