Research Assistant I - Neurology (Epilepsy-Genetics) (Finance)
Prospective and/or current genetic counseling students are encouraged to apply.
Administrative
• Assist in obtaining insurance authorizations for genetic testing when necessary.
• Other administrative duties related to obtaining genetic testing for patients.
Clinical
• Assist genetic counselors in preparing and organizing materials for genetics education
• Communicate with patients and physicians, as necessary, related to clinical care
Research
Under close supervision, conducts research activities according to research protocol, including, but not limited to:
• Patient recruiting and screening
• Data extraction from electronic health records and entry into database.
• Data aggregation from collaborators and family organizations.
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of the genetic databases
• Assist in clinical investigations in genetics by performing literature reviews
• Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers.
General
• Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
General knowledge of research fields.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
No years of experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
