The Business Intelligence Analyst will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and will serve as a key point of contact in supporting the organization with fact-based selling information and strategies via shipments data, Point of Sale analysis and insights for the Office Supplies Business Division of LSC: TOPS Products. Primary responsibilities of this position include interaction with TOPS team and customers to facilitate product placement and merchandising in multiple channels (retail locations, catalogs, internet sellers) and providing competitive analysis. This position is responsible for analyzing sku rationalization, assortment opportunities and providing recommendations based on consumer driven strategies. Secondary responsibilities include measuring, monitoring and tracking Key Performance Indicators relating to improvements in merchandising principles that drive category growth and placement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute analysis and provide reporting and insights to identify areas of opportunity and trends to maximize category sales volume. Ad hoc or additional reporting/ information analysis support for customer accounts.
Assist in the development, understanding, sourcing, and synthesis of data sets to generate insights that lead to actionable recommendations for customers.
Identify, quantify, and explore key trends in the data to surface general or promotional category, customer or consumer insights, work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and product teams to recommend a course of action.
Assess and effectively communicate insights and market trends utilizing internal POS and third-party data.
Create fact-based persuasive presentations to translate key learning's and insights into customer strategy and business plans to gain support for business strategies or initiatives, both with customers and internal business partners.
Serve as a subject matter expert to customer marketing and sales teams relative to data sources and measures, math and business calculations that support the product insights process and methodology.
Champion key learning's and insights and ensure they are effectively shared throughout the organization.
Required Skills:
BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business preferred; with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, demonstrated ability to analyze multiple sources of data and recommend actions based on the analysis.
Excellent organization skills, multi-tasking and project management is required, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
Strong technical proficiency working in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; including use of pivot tables and statistical formulas.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to compile and present complex information in a variety of ways to support decision making.
Flexible, motivated self-starter with attention to detail and sound business judgment.
Some travel is required.
Ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment.
