Senior Platform Engineer - WSO2& OnPrem/AWS Cloud + 24/7 Support Rotation are Required (Finance)



Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for leading initiatives in the areas of requirements, design, and implementation of NMDP enterprise application infrastructure. The position will perform duties on application and web environments and help with the automation, support and strategy of NMDP's emerging DevOps practices. This position also participates in a 24/7 production support rotation with an emphasis on system reliability and excellent customer service.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

NMDP Application and web server architecture and administration:

  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring and tuning, monitoring and supporting Unix/Linux and Windows based application and web servers in an on-premises or cloud architecture.
  • Delivers automated, cutting-edge middleware and DevOps solutions to cross functional teams to improve delivery capabilities to stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating, installing and supporting development environments and tools.
  • Experience installing, configuring, tuning, monitoring and upgrading applications and web server infrastructure.
  • Participates in efforts to improve monitoring for existing and new systems and services.
  • Provides daily administration duties for the application environments including support for developer tools.
  • Keeps up with industry best practices, trends, and standards and identify automation opportunities that improve DevOps operations and efficiency across the organization.
  • Monitors systems performance, usage trends, and upcoming projects to do performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Ensures proper security, infrastructure, and configuration is in place and maintained.

COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) System Administration, support and troubleshooting:
  • Administer security and configuration settings within COTS software as appropriate
  • Support the installation and configuration of COTS environments and applications.
  • Design, Coordinate, Perform and implement COTS upgrades and new releases.

Support and troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoots and provides service for support requests, incidents and problems.
    • Leads team support initiatives and communicates regularly with stakeholders.
    • Mentors other team members to improve overall support initiatives.
    • Provides 24x7 on-call support for supported system problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Supporting cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, etc..).
  • Experience with Enterprise class monitoring tools (AppDynamics, SCOM, New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk)
  • Deep knowledge supporting web server technologies (WebSphere, Tomcat or Weblogic)
  • Managing Windows and Unix\Linux server systems.
  • Scripting experience with these technologies: (Bash, Python, Powershell or ZShell)
  • Experience with deploying and supporting containerized applications and\or services.
  • Ability to participate in after hours on call support rotation.
  • Familiar with Certificate management

Ability to:
  • Ability to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong Customer service skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Project leadership experience required.
  • Demonstrated success in working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and creative problem solving.
  • Lead and influence others without direct supervision.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field. Equivalent related experience and/or education may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Five or more years of work experience in a position that required general Platform system administration and/or COTS administration and support.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)

  • Scripting knowledge in at least one of the following languages (bash, Powershell, python, Ruby, YAML, etc).
  • Experience supporting applications and platforms in a distributed cloud environment.
  • Experience identifying and implementing automation (puppet, ansible, terraform).
  • Knowledge of API providers and integration technologies
