Planner/Scheduler (Project Management)

Planner/Scheduler (Wichita, KS):

Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Plans production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources to meet customer requirements for quality and delivery; communicates production schedule to all affected departments; monitors actual versus planned output; reports discrepancies and takes corrective action as appropriate.
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory levels, working with purchasing on material shortages, communicating production needs to shipping department, and assuring timely completion of scheduled production runs.  
  • Assists in resolution of production problems including equipment downtime, materials shortages, labor resource issues, etc.  
  • Assists Operations Manager in establishing manpower requirements for assigned areas; prepares staffing projections; participates in interview process; makes recommendations for hiring, firing, promotions, terminations, and other personnel actions; trains new employees; assesses training needs for existing employees; implements necessary training programs; recommends disciplinary action when required.  
  • Maintains records related to safety, quality, and productivity; assists Operations Manager in designing systems for data collection and analysis; analyzes data and makes recommendations for improvements in manufacturing operations.  
  • Participates in budget and forecast processes by providing information regarding capacity needs, production goals, and spending requests; assists Operations Manager in determining long term strategic plans for the operation; provides feedback to sales and marketing on lead-times and potential capacity constraints.  
  • Provides assistance to Operations Manager in developing policies and procedures for assigned area; assists in implementing changes in policies and procedures; ensures adherence to corporate and regulatory standards and practices.  
  • Coordinates activities between Operations and Quality Control; works closely with Quality Control to resolve any quality concerns that may arise during the course of normal business or during an internal or external audit.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply principles of geometry, trigonometry, modern algebra, statistical theory, and advanced mathematical concepts used in cost accounting and financial markets.  
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective courses of action.
  • Experience interpreting and applying regulations and guidelines.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.  
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision on routine assignments; ability to exercise independence of judgement and autonomy within defined procedures and practices.  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  
  • Experience using ERP software, preferably Oracle.
