Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (Finance)
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Review history of accidents and claims, and prepares reports and recommendations as required.
Coordinate safety of the project as a whole and provides stimulus for proactive loss control efforts.
Review reports and presents corrective actions for specific situations identified by outside agencies.
Participate in accident investigations.
Prepare written report (Loss Control Survey) of findings.
Responsible for maintaining and updating the safety manual and insuring sub-contractors possess the most recent copy.
Responsible for filing signed documentation and other safety related items.
Assist in the development and implementation of standardized Safety Programs.
Coordinate, develop and /or conduct safety training.
Coordinate and insures subcontractors follow all plant safety regulations.
Coordinate the distribution of safety equipment and conducts proper training for use of safety equipment.
Ensure employees receive proper first-aid for injuries as required.
Promote safety awareness; assist in safety and technical training.
Monitor and enforce safety regulations.
Facilitates incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective actions.
Conduct ongoing safety inspections of facilities, operations and equipment to insure compliance and a safe working environment for all employees.
Analyze work functions to develop safety, environmental and ergonomic policies to ensure compliance.
Act as a professional liaison in case of government agency inspections concerning safety, environmental or ergonomic issues.
Maintain updated OSHA required written programs and recommend / conduct training as necessary.
Administers and manages SDS Programs.
Develop local measurement to support and drive safety performance.
Actively participate on assigned teams and/or projects.
Provide a safe workplace and uses influence to drive improvements within the plant.
This position has responsibility for Food Safety and Quality within their influence. The associate in this job has the responsibility to report, in a timely manner, Food Safety and Quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action on those problems.
QUALIFICATIONS/ CAPABILITY PROFILE
Minimum Education
High School diploma/GED required
Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene or related field desired
Formal OSHA or similar Safety Certification desired
Minimum Experience
Three to five (3 to 5) years of safety experience (e.g., administration and supervision of site-based OSHA programs) required
Three to five (3-5) years of food manufacturing/packaging experience desired
Three to five (3-5) years of managing associates desired
Minimum Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Basic knowledge of OSHA requirements
Some knowledge of hazardous material regulations
Working knowledge of behavioral-based safety principles and practices
Working knowledge of accident prevention and safety equipment
Good interpersonal skills, including ability to interface and plan effectively with management and obtain their commitment
Good verbal and written communication
Good analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
Strong presentation and training skills
Ability to plan and implement programs.
Ability to speak Spanish desired
Ability to handle multiple priorities
Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
