The Controller oversees and manages various finance and accounting functions and is primarily responsible for the accounting and reporting for the company. This includes general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, fixed assets and inventory. The Controller will provide strategic financial guidance to support operational goals, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and drive efficiency and profitability across the organization. This hands-on people leader plays a key role in supporting the accounting and finance department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to support day-today decision making, and to ensure that proper internal controls are in place to safeguard the company's assets and promote efficient and effective operations.

  • In depth knowledge of GAAP and financial statement disclosure requirements.
  • Understands financial concepts such as return on investment, opportunity costs, and time value money.
  • Knowledge of financial principles required for budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Understands financial statements, cash flow, and key financial ratios.
  • Solid knowledge of inventory and fixed asset accounting, and internal controls.
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to organize and manage deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • The ability to work well with the Leadership Team, as well as mentor/lead team members.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Personal accountability and self-management to prioritize and complete all tasks as required.
  • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
  • Teamwork: cooperate and support others within Modern Machinery.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of work experience in accounting with demonstrated growth in responsibilities.
  • 5+ years management experience required with strong leadership abilities and experience managing a team.

  • Follow all company policies and regulations for safe work procedures and contribute to the achievement of company safety goals.
  • Manages all accounting activities, and related staff, to ensure that financial processes and information are accurate, timely, and contain adequate internal controls.
  • Monitors financial metrics and identifies and communicates opportunities for financial improvement with a specific focus on expense to budget and price realization.
  • Manages the preparation of all financial reports including internal reporting, third party reporting, tax returns, and audits.
  • Monitors cash flow and analyzes working capital requirements.
  • Engages third party service providers, including banking, financial accounting, taxation, benefits, and compliance.
