RFP Risk Triage Manager - Legal, Compliance & Security - Remote (Finance)

The RFP Risk Triage Manager is part of Cigna's U.S. Employer RFP Strategy and Operations team. This individual plays a critical role in managing the overall risk associated with the proposal process, as well as maintaining related proposal content that is current and relevant. This position supports all Cigna Healthcare sales segments, buyer groups, and lines of business as needed.

The qualified individual uses his/her deep knowledge of Cigna's businesses and solutions, RFP library and intranet resources, and established relationships with subject matter experts and business owners to directly impact the overall new business and retention sales process. This individual ensures that the RFP team is equipped to support RFP-related inquiries associated with legal and contractual requirements, compliance, Cigna enterprise strategies, and many other critical topics. The Risk Triage Manager works closely with his/her team to strategize the best approach for addressing high-risk topics within proposal responses.

The Risk Triage Manager partners closely with the RFP Strategy & Operations management team to triage new or unfamiliar technical requests, also working directly with Sales and Presale on standalone technical requests. Forming and maintaining collaborative internal RFP relationships as well as matrix partnerships with Legal, CIP, Privacy Office, and other subject matter experts will be critical to ensuring that this team can achieve accurate and timely completion of these sensitive and often binding documents.

ROLE COMPONENTS:

Risk Triage:

This team provides management oversight for risk-related RFP topics and processes, developing strategies and processes that help enable our team to mitigate overall RFP-related risk. Partnerships and strong collaboration with matrix areas such as Legal, Compliance, Contracts, Privacy, and Security will be critical.

With effective project and resource management, this team collaborates closely with sales, presale, content teams, and other matrix partners to support sensitive legal/contractual components of RFPs. The manager of this team thinks critically about new/unfamiliar enterprise topics, conducting thorough research and synthesizing cohesive responses from multiple sources as needed.

This individual is adept at formulating the proposal as a showcase for our capabilities rather than a commitments document, recommending alternative positioning as needed to balance risk mitigation with a winning sales strategy. Understanding the core objectives of our "RFP Thought Process" and "Path to Yes" initiatives will be critical for an individual to succeed in this role.

This team may also be involved in topic-specific RFI requests that are client-agnostic and may be tied more to enterprise level initiatives that span across more than one solution. Examples of these topics may include: Diversity & Inclusion, Social Determinants of Health, and CAA/Transparency.

People Management:

The Risk Triage Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a team of risk triage writers. Capacity management and ongoing workload assessments will be critical to ensure effective case management and ongoing success meeting deliverables.

In our dynamic and changing health care environment, the Risk Triage Manager will often be tasked with creative problem-solving to approach new and emerging topics within RFPs and RFIs. The Risk Triage Manager will be expected to lead his/her team through unfamiliar requests and to navigate new subject matter, helping to guide the team and our department through education, networking with new experts, and RFP process development.

Each people leader within RFP Strategy & Operations is expected to possess a superior knowledge of Cigna's business, segments, selling strategies, and proposal processes, acting as a coach and subject matter expert while also supporting ongoing trainings in partnership with other experts at all levels as needed to achieve deliverables. Having a comfort level with educating and mentoring across the end-to-end proposal process is critical.

Continuous Improvement:

RFP Risk Triage Manager will regularly engage in organizational priorities to improve processes and drive more successful completion of RFP deliverables. The ideal candidate will readily lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the broader RFP Strategy & Operations team.

The Risk Triage Manager partners closely with management and team leads to address current or new content or process needs, maintaining proficiency in various RFP roles to provide immediate assistance to RFP teams in support of core business when need is critical. This individual also partners closely with peers and management to drive change based on feedback from the consumers of our proposal content. Enhancement initiatives may incorporate a mix of process, content, and technology-driven solutions.

Qualifications:

Your skills, experience, talent, and creativity enable us to develop the meaningful, innovative solutions our customers value and expect. That's why we are committed to recruiting, motivating and nurturing the best and the brightest.

So, what does it take to be an ideal candidate for this role?

  • A current or former RFP professional who is proficient in the sales process
  • Knowledgeable about Cigna's businesses, products, services, sales segments, processes, and tools
  • Motivated and hard-working self-starter who does what it takes to get the job done
  • Passionate about selling the value of Cigna's suite of products and services
  • A fast learner who is not intimidated by areas that may be new or somewhat ambiguous

  • Highly organized, and with a demonstrated attention to detail
  • Energetic and communicative with strong interpersonal skills
  • A problem solver with critical thinking and decision-making ability
  • Able to operate independently with minimal direction from management
  • Interested in working in a collaborative environment to drive positive change
