Senior Director of Product Marketing- Cyber Security Products (Project Management)

Senior Director of Product Marketing

Role can be remote in California (office is in San Jose), Austin Texas or potentially remote in the contiguous United States

Position Summary

As Senior Director of Product Marketing, you will be responsible for defining a global product marketing strategy and executing go to market activities that differentiates messaging and elevates the position of all products in Thales' Cyber Security Products application security portfolio.

The role requires a deep understanding of the cybersecurity industry, excellent communication skills, technical acumen, and a proven track record leading product adoption effort and bringing new products to market.

Key responsibilities include crafting compelling messaging, engaging industry analysts, developing sales & channel enablement, driving new product introductions, and aligning KPIs of product marketing with company growth goals. 

Must be highly comfortable working in a global organization and must have a solid understanding of technology trends facing key stakeholders and personas buying application security.

Key Areas of Responsibility  

Develop and execute global product marketing strategy:

  • Accountable for the global product marketing strategy, KPIs, budget, goals, process and reporting to ensure alignment with company objectives. 

Lead a product marketing team:

  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of product marketing professionals to create high impact content that supports new product initiatives, sales & channel enablement, campaigns, product adoption campaigns and other go to market activities.

Industry positioning

  • Define and position our products in the market, highlighting key differentiators and value propositions. Ensure favorable representation of Thales' vision and solution capabilities in analyst reports, briefings, and inquiries. Collaborate with internal teams to strengthen position in the industry and support PR related activities.  Transform technical capabilities into clear, differentiated, and engaging messages and value propositions for customers, buyers, and target segments. 

Go-to-Market Execution:

  • Execute go-to-market plans including launching new products, developing pricing, packaging and region-ready materials such as sales tools, playbooks, talk tracks, and competitive material. Identify opportunities to expand relationships with existing customers, driving upsells and cross-sells. Develop strategies to attract new customers, leveraging digital marketing, content marketing, and other tactics.

Market Analysis:

  • Identify customer pain points, market requirements, and market whitespace for Thales' solutions. This includes managing and maintaining a robust competitive intelligence program. 

Sales & Channel Enablement:

  • Partnering with Sales, Sales Enablement and Channel leaders to develop training programs, drive product awareness, and provide content that helps sales teams close deals. 

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Lead efforts across Product Management, Customer Success, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to ensure alignment and successful product launches and customer satisfaction.

Customer & Partner community building:

  • Develop relationships and take input from strategic customers, partners and stakeholders to foster the growth of Thales' application security community.

Evangelism:

  • Act as a spokesperson at industry events, conferences, company events and with the media to share thought leadership and communicate Thales' innovation.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or similar field.

  • 15+ years of product marketing experience including experience work in large, global technology enterprises.

  • At least 5 years in a product marketing leadership role leading and motivating a global team.

  • 5+ years of product marketing, sales, presales experience with cybersecurity, SaaS, cloud, software development technologies or related high tech, high growth industries.

  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, digital marketing channels, market research, enterprise sales, sales methodologies, and channel enablement.

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly with senior leadership, analysts, and technical stakeholders.

  • At least 5 years of experience of developing and executing successful product marketing strategies, including successfully bringing technology solutions to market, brand development, analyst relations, PR, messaging, and go-to-market planning in a technical space.

  • Must have public facing content demonstrating one's ability to translate product features into compelling value for customers.

  • Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth, customer acquisition, and collaborative team leadership.

  • Ability to analyze data and make high quality informed decisions to drive product marketing strategies.

  • Strong strategic thinking, sense of urgency and creative problem-solving capabilities, with a robust analytical mindset.

The ideal candidate will have worked in both large and start up environments.  There is a potential for this role to be based in Europe.
