Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Financial Analyst I, working within the Disbursements team, will utilize organizational, analytical, and financial accounting skills to maintain electronic and check transactions, prepare account documents for review and approval, research transactional discrepancies, as well as develop and provide support for settlement fund opening and closing initiatives.  This position will also assist in research pertaining to reconciling bank statements and accounting for transactions related to the settlement funds and will assist in other related projects as requested.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process payments through bank and internal accounting systems
  • Coordinate payment related documents and other settlement fund administration correspondence
  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure the accurate reporting of data
  • Research activity and prepare necessary reporting related to the distribution of funds
  • Prepare reports for completing IRS Forms 1099/1096
  • Assist in filing settlement fund income tax returns (IRS Forms 1120-SF; 1041)
  • Adhere to current standard operating procedures (SOP's) and assist with the creation, documentation, and implementation of new SOPs
  • Coordinate incoming department correspondence and route to appropriate personnel
  • Assist with the creation of settlement funds including obtaining the EIN, establishing the appropriate bank accounts, and setting up accounts in internal operating systems
  • Collaborate with others to identify and resolve issues and process improvements
  • Ensure the protection of sensitive information
  • Participate in meetings and being a dependable resource on assigned projects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Disbursement Manager/Supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Associate degree in relevant field or 1-3 years equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years in a finance related role
  • Experience working with Qualified Settlement Funds, Trusts, and/or Escrow Accounts preferred
  • Financial, accounting or banking experience preferred
  • Must be able to work independently, and interdependently
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Strong organization skills with keen attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills including written, oral, and listening
  • Able to work in an environment with immediate deadlines and shifting priorities
