Senior Quality Engineer (Finance)



As a Senior Quality Engineer at MacLean-Fogg, you will establish, maintain, and continuously improve quality standards for products and processes. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate quality risks, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards. The Senior Quality Engineer plays a key role in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and mentoring junior engineers to build a culture of quality across the organization.

  • Position Type: Full-Time/Salary (Exempt)
  • Pay Range: $85,000 - $110,000 (depending on skills and experience)
  • Work Location: Onsite - Mooresville, North Carolina 28115
Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for products and processes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, manufacturing, and suppliers, to identify quality risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct audits of production processes, raw materials, and suppliers/vendors to ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards, including ISO 9001 and other relevant certifications.
  • Lead complex investigations into product defects, non-conformities, and quality failures. Use advanced problem-solving methodologies (e.g. 8D, Fishbone, FMEA) to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other applicable certifications. Prepare and assist with external audits.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of quality documentation, including audit reports, Non-Conformance Reports, CAPAs, and other quality-related records.
  • Participate in APQP activities to ensure product and process quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Prepare, compile, and submit approval of PPAP packages to support new product launches or engineering changes.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies regarding safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills/Competencies
  • In-depth knowledge of quality engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices. Proficient in root cause analysis, failure analysis, and quality improvement techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and quality issues to all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven leadership ability with experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers, driving teams toward quality objectives, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making. Proficient in using statistical tools, Excel, Minitab, or other data analysis software to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and compliance in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Engineering or related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience or equivalent work experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Required to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and stooping required.
  • Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
