Entry Level Civil Engineer (Architecture)

Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems' Ebensburg, PA office has an opportunity for an Engineer 1 to join our Pennsylvania Roadway Practice. This Engineer 1 will be a member of our roadway group and will assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculation, geometric design, drainage design, MPT, specifications, cost estimates and other related tasks. Microstation,OpenRoads, MS Office and other design software will be used. All work will be in collaboration with other engineers, technicians, planners, and surveyors. Must possess strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.  

•  Assists others in analyzing information and data to perform routine design tasks.
• May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
• Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
• Responsible as a member of the design team for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
• Research design options and document findings for Senior Project Engineer.
• Researches code requirements.
• Prepares environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.
• Keeps Senior Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Experience with MicroStation/GEOPAK; OpenRoads Design experience is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Programs.
• Ability to obtain Fundamentals of Engineering registration within 1 year.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

• EIT certification.
• Familiarity with PennDOT plan preparation requirements for roadway projects.
• Previous internship experience in roadway, bridge, drainage, and/or construction inspection.
• Experience with PennDOT, PATurnpike, and local municipality projects.
• Microstation and/or OpenRoads Designer working knowledge.
