Blood Bank Supervisor / Grand Junction, CO (Healthcare)

If you are scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week, you are eligible for health, dental, vision, EAP, HSA, and FSAs on the first of the month following date of hire. You are eligible for all other benefits after three months of continuous employment and 401(k) after 30 days of continuous employment. If you are scheduled to work 20-29 hours per week, please see Human Resources Department for eligibility. The minimum pay range for this position will be $55,245 - $67,031 per year.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under limited direction, this position is responsible for managing the daily operational activities of assigned Donor Care fixed site and/or mobile team. Implements assigned policies and ensures compliance with the enterprise, SOP, FDA and AABB standards. Ensures successful blood collection operations to support  achievement of collection goals and budget. This position provides staff development, employee engagement and mentorship. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.  Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.

Assures quality customer service to all customers.

Investigates, addresses and resolves donor concerns.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates the work of assigned in-center and/or mobile collections staff including planning workloads, allocating tasks, monitoring progress against goals, evaluating performance, and approving timecards. With the approval of the Donor Care Manager, counsel and conduct personnel corrective action when needed.  

Ensures effective hiring, training, professional development, and retention of competent staff.

Ensures that all subordinate staff, prior to performing respective job functions, are adequately trained for the type and complexity of procedures for which they are responsible and have demonstrated that they can perform all functions reliably; maintain competency via policies/procedures, retraining, education or other appropriate measures.

Creates a work environment that fosters attitudes, conditions and environments that guide team toward excellence and acting in a manner that exemplifies the RITE values. Actively reward/recognize employees to reinforce accomplishments and positive outcomes.

Empowers staff to identify opportunities for process improvement and communicates to management. 

Always maintains effective and regular communications with applicable departments to ensure proper staffing levels, including on-call coverage for holidays and weekends. Dealing with leave requests and arranging cover when necessary, rearranging staff schedules with the help of a scheduler for callouts.

Ensures collection events function in compliance with all regulatory standards and according to defined organizational policies and procedures. Performs deviation management related tasks and effective, timely corrective action at all times.

Maintains safety standards, conducts risk assessments, counseling for safety events follows all safety procedures, as outlined by the Company.

Assures the satisfactory operating condition, maintenance, and repair of all assigned equipment and vehicles. Drives company vehicle, as needed. 

Supportive and responsible for the execution of the organization's strategic direction and may assist in budget preparation.

Financially responsible for company credit card purchases associated with collection events.

May assist Donor Care Team Leaders to provide onsite supervision at center or mobile operations including assisting technicians with interviewing and phlebotomizing whole blood, automated red cell/plasma and apheresis donors

Performs all other duties at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Education
High school graduate\GED required.
Ability to successfully complete all required staff qualifications and supervisory training programs required.

Licenses/Certifications
Valid in-state driver's license required.

Experience
Three years previous healthcare-related experience required.
One year of previous supervisory experience required.

Skills/Abilities
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities. 
Excellent phlebotomy technique. 
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to read and comprehend written procedures and instructions.
Basic working knowledge or Windows operating system, keyboard usage, and PC.
Must be trained and knowledgeable in using and maintaining applicable equipment that may include automated red cell and plasma, apheresis and whole blood equipment.
Excellent knowledge of business practice. 
Physical ability to lift, bend and reach.
Excellent customer service skills.
Able to maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality. 
Travel out-of-town may be required. 
Must possess a good driving record (if required to drive a company vehicle).
