Machinist 1 (Grangeville) (Administrative)



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to machine parts to required specifications for plant equipment.
  • Read and understand blueprints in hand-drawn or AutoCad form.
  • Safely operate and produce precision parts using a lathe and/or milling machine, bandsaw, and drill press. Safely operate overhead hoists.
  • Identify and order materials for required parts and equipment. Proficient in the use of trade tools.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow lock out/tag out policies for each job and task.
  • Properly use CMMS and Preventative system.
  • Consistently work at acceptable production levels
  • Other duties as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate machine shop safety & clean up procedures
  • Perform shop mathematics associated with machining
  • Reads and understands manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications as necessary to perform the job function
  • Knowledge of standard key sizing for each shaft diameter up to 3-15/16” diameter
  • Properly machine shafts in lathe
  • Properly key a shaft in the milling machine
  • Familiarity with working properties of various materials
  • Machine wheels & sprockets
  • Properly broach and key sprockets and pulleys
  • Demonstrate the ability to machine all hyd & air cylinder parts
  • Sharpen drill and machining tool bits
  • Thread on lathe, right and left hand, 60 degree, ‘V' Sharp, and ACME thread
  • Knowledge of Safety Rules, OSHA and State regulations

  • Ability to work at varying heights

  • Provide tools

  • Must be able to work various shifts, days, and overtime as needed

  • Machinist certification preferred but not required

  • High School Diploma or GED (or willingness to quickly obtain one as a condition of employment)

  • Valid Driver's License

    Physical Requirements:

    Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
