Laser Optical Electrical Technician (Finance)

Job Description
Job Summary:
The individual should understand both diode and flash lamp pumped lasers and their characteristics. Additionally, this technician should understand polarized light, the role of wave plates within a laser system, as well as active and passively Q Switched lasers. In addition, the individual must be competent with the use of laboratory equipment relating to laser integration such as oscilloscopes, energy meters, beam imaging systems and cameras, etc. This individual should be able to work autonomously once trained on a product and serve as a lead/mentor to other junior level LEOTs. Furthermore, technicians at this level potentially will be called upon to conduct tests/experiments for engineering when needed. The individual will also help where needed within the laser manufacturing and materials team, this would potentially include production of laser subassemblies, working within the Quality Control department, and etc. Some of these products may require working within a Class 1000 Cleanroom environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Integration of various laser sub-assemblies in order to produce fully functioning laser modules
Assemble and test various laser module products to detailed daily work plans and documented work instructions to the highest levels of quality
Work cohesively in a team environment with the objective of accomplishing daily, weekly and monthly output goals
Practice proper cleanroom protocol whenever such assigned tasks are performed
• Ensure a safe work environment for the integration table and surrounding area
• Ensure all tools and equipment are within calibration and is in proper working order
• Inspect all components under a stereo microscope, before and after assembly
• Inputting various integration and acceptance test data into appropriate computer files, folders and spreadsheets
Assist other team members in various non-specific tasks in support of overall team goals and objectives
Job Qualifications:
Competency in the operation of the following: diode Lasers, multimeters, oscilloscope, power supplies, thermal chambers, microscopes, interferometers
• The ability to troubleshoot laser systems and components to identify root causes of product issues
The ability to work either independently or cohesively within a team structure
Strong organizational skills and exceptional demonstrated attention to detail
• Strong visual acuity in identifying optical defects or non-conformities
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and interpret technical drawings
• Computer proficiency - Microsoft Office
• Accuracy in data entry and record keeping
• Demonstrated ability to: set-up and use of optical beamlines, bond optical subassemblies, properly handle and clean laser optics
• Strong written and verbal communication
• High level of mechanical aptitude
Preferred Skills/Experience:
..3-5 years working in a manufacturing environment with high-complexity laser modules with a strong preference of working with solid state diode-pumped lasers
Prior work experience within the electronics, aerospace or high tech industry
BS in a technical field (science, engineering) or AS in laser electro-optical technology
