Project Engineering Intern - Draper, UT (Finance)

Position Overview

This is an entry level internship position involving the collection of cost and quantity data as well as the preparation and distribution of cost and quantity reports. This role will also involve the preparation of quantity estimates using material, labor and overhead costs. This position offers the opportunity to gain meaningful insight into the design and construction process of large-scale, complex design-build projects, with direct exposure to this integrated delivery method and construction. Regular visits to the field will be required to verify completed and remaining quantities and to monitor project progress.

This position holds opportunity to transition from internship to a Discipline Project Engineer or other like positions that may be available.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Will assist Discipline Project Engineers (DPE's) as well as other project management with project engineering related duties to include but not be limited to: cost and quantity collection, reporting, cost forecasting, operational planning, and scheduling.
  • Ability to read and extrapolate information from plan documents.
  • Ability to read and understand project requirements and technical specifications.
  • Hours of operation will vary according to current project needs and employee availability. 20+ hours minimum required weekly. Up to 50 hours a week is possible.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.

Education/Experience

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or similar.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate as a Junior or higher
  • Previous related experience/training in the field is a plus.

Language Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • knowledge of Primavera P6 and Bid2Win.
  • The ability to learn and train on other CRH computer programs is a plus.

The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
