Business Intelligence Engineer - Remote (Finance)

The Lead Analyst, Business Intelligence will provide leadership to drive Business Intelligence initiatives to enhance strategic decision-making abilities with data-driven insights. This role will be responsible to develop and execute BI strategies successfully to support strategic initiatives for GXO Logistics. This role will oversee projects, allocating and managing resources to develop solutions that utilize and enhance the company's Business Intelligence (BI) platform. The deliverables of these projects will span from reporting to data science to generate valuable business insights. The position requires unique skills to deliver high-impact results, including problem-solving, statistical modeling/data analysis, and data visualization. The Analyst Lead will foster collaboration with business partners to identify strategic opportunities and execute strategic projects and ad hoc activities.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Lead and oversee the development and execution of our BI strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives
  • Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership in leveraging data to drive business growth and efficiency using BI tools and practices with solutions that leverage data science and related disciplines
  • Engage with organizational stakeholders to align priorities and communicate solution design trade-offs and recommendations to build and execute development plans
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, prioritize, and implement solutions to deliver business value
  • Leverage expertise in data modeling and data ingestion to implement best practices to shape GXO data architecture
  • Design user interfaces, tool screens, and end-user workflows to maximize understandability of information, ease of use, and alignment with GXO aesthetic and usability standards
  • Continuously improve technical design patterns, workflows, and tools-defining and enforcing standards when necessary to sustain the platform's effectiveness and sustainability and experimenting with and promoting the adoption of new tools and approaches when appropriate
  • Mentor other team members and partners on technical skills, best practices, problem-solving approaches, and standard patterns used at GXO Logistics-formally in structured group settings and informally in one-on-one and small group sessions
  • Proactively generalize and share technical approaches and best practices among other developers, and simplify and communicate success stories to broader audiences across the company
  • Support end users to ensure they have reliable access to and understanding of data they need to trust to do their jobs effectively

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or related field
  • 7 years experience in business intelligence and data analytics, delivering business solutions that rely on effective availability, usability, and understandability of data and analytical workflows
It'd be great if you also have:
  • MBA or Master's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience delivering business intelligence and data analytics solutions that involve statistical modeling or machine learning, the use of associated R/Python libraries and tooling, and which emphasize effective design and usability for end users
  • Any of the following certifications: R/Python, Cloud, and/or Certified Business Intelligence Professional from TDWI
