Sr. Director Product Management (Finance)



The Sr. Director Product role is an essential, strategic member of the Equifax Workforce Solutions Product team focused on deeply understanding Employment-centric markets, including background screening and employment service solutions to drive the growth of their related portfolios. This position will specifically focus on the Risk Intelligence domain, which involves working with criminal data sets. The role will rely heavily on customer research and market expertise to find solutions to real-world problems and mature our solutions. This role will collaborate within our Product team and across the organization to articulate a clear understanding of our offerings, provide important customer and market context to inform decision-making, and deliver new solutions throughout the product life cycle, alongside Product leadership.

In this role, you will operate as a subject matter expert of the employment-related markets and the unique attributes of our strategic partner's implementations. Collaborating closely with our Go-To-Market team, this position will provide client and market direction, fueled by deep discovery and research. As a leader within our organization, you will be responsible for the product life cycle of products you'll manage, assist with defining near and long-term priorities for our roadmap, provide clear communication around product and partner initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, and understand the competitive and regulatory pressures facing the markets you serve.

This position works closely with Product Operations, Technical Product Management, Engineering, Sales and Marketing leadership, Legal and Compliance, Operations leadership team, and other cross-functional teams to deliver complete solutions. The right individual will thrive on problem solving, be comfortable leading interactions with new/prospective partners and will maintain close collaboration with internal peers to drive forward new product functionality. A curious nature, passion for helping users and a rich natural interest in technology and software are all must-have attributes.

This role will work a hybrid schedule, working from an Equifax office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. Preference is candidates based in St Louis, but candidates that live in proximity to any Equifax office will be considered.

What you'll do

  • Market Opportunity Assessment - Own overall Market & Customer Understanding for product and product lines managed and articulate the product vision, ensuring alignment with strategy and goals; Perform segmentation, market sizing, and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities; Lead market validation (voice of customer, customer advisory boards, etc.)
  • Product Definition - Lead identification and drive prioritization of opportunities for, and manage development of, strategic partnerships & advise on buy, build, or partner approach; Definition of elements required to meet market needs and commercial viability; Lead development of commercial model and packaging discussions
  • Product Strategy & Planning - Create the business case for new product concepts and pitch concepts; Define the product roadmap used in product strategy and planning sessions across the Product Delivery Value Stream; Drive cross functional activities related to positioning, pricing, and promotion across distribution channels (collaboration with Marketing & D&A)
  • Product Delivery & Launch - Lead descriptions and requirement definition for product development; Understand product trade-offs and drive alignment; Manage market feedback efforts to drive product direction; Lead efforts to prepare for and support product release; Monitor post launch, consult with product marketing and provide input to adjust/improve to ensure success
  • Growth & Portfolio Management - Drive product engagement and satisfaction and manage the product's performance including attainment of revenue and margin objectives; Assess monitored product adoption and usage and engage in the collection of customer feedback; Collect, analyze and interpret data to reach conclusions and/or present insights and findings to drive product development and lifecycle management decisions including enhancements and sunsetting

What experience you need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline strongly preferred; equivalent experience may be considered; Product Management certifications is a plus
  • 7-10 years of related product management experience in a product-led organization required, as is experience leading in a Product Management environment in Technology, Financial Services or Data & Analytics
  • Experience writing detailed product requirements is fundamental and required and must demonstrate a solid understanding of product design, commercial model and packaging discussions
  • Is capable of setting the vision and ensure its alignment with strategy and goals
  • Possesses a deep understanding of customer needs through market and industry research and analysis of competitors
  • Can use strong knowledge of competitive landscape to anticipate, articulate and drive high-potential opportunities that demonstrate competitive advantage
  • Has managed executional rigor to deliver product efforts on time to meet market demands
  • Demonstrated ability to lead efforts in a highly matrixed environment
  • Interact with key decisions-makers within own function and across related functions to successfully navigate Equifax' organization
  • Experience in Product tools required (Aha, JIRA, Figma)

What could set you apart
  • Experience working with background screeners, employment and/or software product solutions, compliance solutions or general experience
  • Domaine expertise within criminal background screening services.
  • Experience working with person-related databases is highly beneficial - though not required
  • Demonstrated experience delivering new solutions and/or growing existing solutions in a SaaS environment
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with colleagues, cross-functional teams and clients/partners
  • Polished communication skills, both presentational and written. Able to convey complex ideas to a variety of audiences
  • Strong experience interpreting and presenting data analysis
  • Understanding of product roadmaps and balancing prioritization between external needs and internal constraints
  • Understanding of the Product Life Cycle and how software products are designed, built and matured in an agile SaaS environment
  • Experience with Product Methodology within the Pragmatic Marketing framework
  • Team lead experience or demonstrated capabilities strongly desired
  • Experience demonstrating Design Thinking for innovation is a plus (Use creative design thinking to develop innovative business solutions. Apply creative and analytical tools to develop real solutions for real needs, including personas, empathy mapping, prototyping and iteration models.
  • Exposure to cloud-based products and services, demonstrating an understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure, and deployment models strongly desired
