  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in Environmental, Health or Safety
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Via sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution preferably in Chemistry, Environmental Health Science, Environmental Engineering or similar degree
  • Previous EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Summary: With minimum supervision the EHS Engineer will provide technical assistance on matters related to environmental, health and safety compliance programs and practices. This position will work closely with the EHS Manager to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and HFS regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure Compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Requirements
  • Supports location EHS Manager in the overall EH&S process implementation and oversight.
  • Supports development and implementation of the EHS management system.
  • Writes procedures, administers requirements and conducts recordkeeping.
  • Assists in investigation of all EHS incidents.
  • Ensures compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements and HFS Standards.
  • Develops, recommends and implements programs to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations including documentation, reporting, permits, manifests, training, and policy development.
  • Coordinates and manages all on-site hazardous materials: Waste management and scrap management.
  • Manages the environmental process: processing, heat-treat and wastewater treatments area.
  • Is the primary contact for all environmental reporting, investigation and hazard elimination.
  • Must know permitting requirements for all aspects of California regulations in relation to air, water, wastewater and hazardous waste.
  • Develops and administers EHS training and communication programs including but not limited to (HAZCOM, RCRA, HAZMAT, protective equipment and MSDS).
  • Interfaces with external agencies, plant, division and corporate contacts regarding various environmental initiatives, programs and practices.
  • Internal Audits: Ensures that all environmental ASAT are complete and meet Howmet Aerospace standards.
  • Demonstrates continual focus on improvements and enhancements.
  • Advises operating managers concerning environmental regulations and assists in determining and implementing corrective action
  • Perform annual reporting, semi-annual, and quarterly reporting to various agencies
  • Maintain environmental documentation such as waste disposal manifest, disposal profiles, lab analysis, reports, permits, permit applications and support documentation
  • Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
