Shipping/Logistics Coordinator (Administrative)

Schedule: Monday - Friday 4:00AM - 12:00PM 

“The base hourly pay range for this position is $24.23 - $28.92.  If you are hired, your base pay rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.  In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.  Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role.  Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued wage growth.”

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates required equipment to package, convey, move or hoist materials to proper areas.
  • Examines and routes  outbound shipments, inspects and rejects for damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with appropriate personnel to rectify damages and shortages. 
  • Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods. 
  • Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Dispatching & coordination/scheduling of trucks for all outbound freight
  • Work with sales and operations to ensure orders are prioritized to maximize equipment utilization.
  • Handle all communication internally and externally.
  • Utilize AS400 and Omnitracs systems to create route plans each day.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, or process, and Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of a high school education and 1-2 years of experience in shipping and receiving. 
  • Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math. 
  • Experience working in a shipping/logistics department in a manufacturing environment considered a strong asset. 
  • Dispatch Experience (J.I.T. experience is an asset)
  • Proficient in ERP system with knowledge of AS400 but not applicable
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines - Work effectively both independently and as a member of the team.
  • Excellent communication skills / able to adapt to change.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle pressures of deadlines and high work volumes. 
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize work and switch directions as needed based on business demands. 
  • Proficiency in operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks. Knowledge of proper loading, unloading, and stacking techniques for steel products.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Basic computer skills for data entry, inventory management software, and email communication. Familiarity with warehouse management systems is a plus
  • The role involves physical activities such as lifting, bending, and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. Proper lifting techniques and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to minimize physical strain and injury.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment may include a combination of office and warehouse settings. The position requires frequent interaction with warehouse personnel, drivers,  carriers, suppliers, and internal departments. It involves working with steel products and may require exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels typically associated with a warehouse environment. Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, is necessary to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
